How to Solo With An Alliance Warlock

By Mike M.

When you are tired of groups and when you want to try something a little different, why not think about rolling up a Warlock? On the Alliance side, Humans and Gnomes can play Warlocks, and while these wielders of dark magic are often known to be great damage dealers, it is also worth looking into the fact that they are perfect for soloing as well. When you are interested in playing a character that can take on just about anything solo, a Warlock is one of your best bets. Check out these tips for playing a solo warlock, and you will find that you are going to start progressing very quickly!

Pets, Pets, Pets

Like Hunters, Warlocks have pets. The imp is your first pet, but the voidwalker is going to be the one that you tend to solo with. They have the highest armor rating that a pet can have and they can generate a fair amount of threat; essentially, they are perfect for acting as your tank. When you are soloing, you can send them and let them soak up the damage as you prepare your damage over time spells.

Take It Slow!

When you are playing a warlock solo, there is a better than average chance that you have decided to put most of your Talent points into the Affliction tree. The Affliction tree allows you to do a lot of damage, but it takes a while. Immolate will let you drop a lot of damage, but it is done over a full 15 seconds; this means that you need to stay alive to let the spell work! Send in your pet and then start piling on the damage. It might take you a while to kill the mobs, but even wearing cloth armor, you will find that your survivability is going to be relatively high.

Alchemy and Herbalism!

When you are thinking about playing Warlock, you might be a little concerned at your lack of ability to heal yourself. When soloing, that can be a real problem, but there are definitely ways to work around this. This is where the professions Alchemy and Herbalism come in. With Herbalism, you will get the bonus Lifeblood, which gives you an effective heal over time, and with Alchemy, you can make healing and mana potions that can keep you alive when it matters.

Consider a WoW Guide

Anyone who plays WoW knows that they are dealing with an enormous amount of material and this is where a good WoW guide can come in. Finding the right guide can mean the difference between leveling in weeks instead of leveling in months, so make sure that you look into what this resource can do for you!
